Triangle Factory, the studio behind Hyper Dash (2021), Breachers (2023), and Forefront (2026), today announced they’re dipping back into the Breachers franchise with the release of Breachers: Outbreak, an upcoming four-player online co-op zombie extraction shooter built for VR and flatscreen.
Unveiled at the VR Games Showcase today, we got a first look at a cinematic reveal trailer of Breachers: Outbreak, something the studio says marks a “bold new direction for Triangle Factory, shifting from the studio’s signature PvP format to a cooperative survival experience.”
In Breachers: Outbreak, players join ‘The Cleaners’, an elite unit of the Enyo Special Task Force (ESTF) deployed into the most dangerous infected zones on Earth. You’re not there to rescue survivors though, but rather hunt down ‘Patient X’, a lone mutated carrier whose bone marrow may hold the key to stopping the outbreak.
Bone Marrow Extraction, its core game mode, is said to blend infiltration, objectives, and “desperate last-stand extraction.” It’s also set to include randomized maps with dynamic zombie spawning, as well as a progression system promising perk builds and various weapon mods.
“Our previous titles were all about competing against each other,” Triangle Factory says. “With Outbreak, we wanted to explore something different: the tension and camaraderie of surviving together. Horror, teamwork, and replayability are at the core of everything we’ve built here.”
The game doesn’t have a release date yet, although the studio says it’s coming sometime this year. Additionally, Breachers: Outbreak is slated to arrive on Quest, Pico, and SteamVR headsets in addition to flatscreen play on PC, supporting up to four-player online co-op. You can learn more over on the game’s site.
