Walkabout Dungeon Golfer Officially in Production After Fake April Fools Reveal

Walkabout Dungeon Golfer, initially presented as a fake April Fools Day game earlier this year, was formally announced in today’s special Mighty Coconut Presents video.

We also got the course trailer for the upcoming Gloop Lair DLC, and news on Mighty Coconut branching into third-party game publishing.

Game developers and other companies often get in on the April Fools Day fun with ridiculous announcements and updates, but sometimes the interest from the developer or the community is so strong that things get real. Such is the case with Walkabout Dungeon Golfer, a roguelike dungeon crawler Mighty Coconut teased.

A few days later, Mighty Coconut updated with the following:

Walkabout Dungeon Golfer was initially a joke, but we got excited about it the more time we spent with it! No promises, but we’re starting to play with some prototypes.

During the special presentation, Mighty Coconut founder Lucas Martell shared some concept art and more details about the game. Walkabout Dungeon Golfer will be a hybrid title with crossplay support for flatscreen and VR platforms. It uses the same physics engine as Walkabout Mini Golf with you and your friends putting through dungeons, fighting monsters, and leveling up abilities. Martell said the team does not have a release date, but the target is summer 2027.

Other Mighty Coconut Presents Announcements

Additionally, Martell also announced that Mighty Coconut will be publishing Grass, a flatscreen cozy co-op lawn mowing simulator from developer Cosmic Dog. You control a remote controlled mower. Grass can be wishlisted now on Steam and will also be available on Xbox.

The final announcement was the reveal trailer for this Thursday’s Gloop Lair DLC course, introduced by Game Director Jeremy Wynn. Gloop Lair is part of the ongoing Evil Lairs series, a 90s metropolis whose entire water supply has been transformed into hazardous gloop.
