Publisher Impact Inked teased Unlock The Vault, a new publishing initiative to help bring new titles to PlayStation VR2, starting with Soul Assembly’s Drop Dead: The Cabin.
Unlock The Vault was revealed in a four-minute video at last week’s VR Games Showcase with Flat2VR Studios’ Myles Dyer introducing former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida and PlayStation-focused YouTubers Ryan Biniecki (MysticRyan), Rob Pearson (PlayStation Access), and Bryan Paul (WithoutParole). The latter four will each reveal another game from the vault at a later date. The video ended with VR Games Showcase host Jamie Feltham introducing Drop Dead: The Cabin.
Drop Dead: The Cabin, a co-op zombie extraction shooter set in the same world as on-rails zombie shooter Drop Dead: Dual Strike, started as a two-player co-op action thriller for Meta Quest in 2023. With Meta presumably looking for more mixed reality content after the launch of the Meta Quest 3 in fall 2023, developer Soul Assembly added Home Invasion, a mixed reality mode adjacent to the main game. Home Invasion was later spun off into a separate title on Quest. Drop Dead: The Cabin went on to launch on Steam as a hybrid title now supporting up to four players.
