Spymaster, the latest project from A Fisherman’s Tale developer Innerspace, leaves Early Access after five months with the full release adding four new missions to conclude the story campaign.

We played Spymaster in Early Access, finding that Innerspace’s signature charm from their previous titles carried over to this new spy-themed adventure. You control multiple spies in sandbox-like missions with a goal of getting each agent to the mission’s end.

Here is a clip from my Early Access play:

If you screw up, as in the above clip where I get shot multiple times, this is where the quirkiness comes in. A device on your wrist called the C.A.S.S.E.T.T.E. allows you to rewind time and replay snippets of the mission from either agent’s viewpoint, allowing you to fix mistakes in a run, complete secondary objectives, or simply fine-tune the run.

It’s a novel concept that encourages replayability to perfect a run without any anxiety-inducing tension. Basically, having a veritable reset button means you can find your own path at your own pace. I will be revisiting Spymaster to complete the campaign and will have a final review in a future article.

Spymaster is available now on Quest and Steam.
