Following its Early Access release on Quest in September, co-op space exploration adventure Sol Protocol comes to PC VR on November 11 with crossplay support. A demo is available this week as part of Steam Next Fest.

Per developer Singular Perception (Epyka), the Steam demo was designed specifically to onboard new users with a tutorial and three sectors to explore. The full launch will include every update that has been released for the Quest version since that launch, including a unique in-game roadmap where players can vote on updates and features they would like to see next. The first new fan-voted feature is a crafting system to transform undesirable loot into ship upgrades that will launch either with the Steam version or shortly thereafter.

At the time of this article, we did not see a new trailer for the Steam launch. Here is the Quest launch trailer:

The game is built around an interactive spaceship designed for three players working three different positions: pilot, gunner and engineer, with communication and coordination required to explore, fight other ships, and salvage structures and planets to repair and upgrade the ship. Singular Perception is still developing a bot system called Automa that will automate some ship functions to support solo and two-player crews, but as we noted in our Early Access impressions, right now this is a game meant for a full trio of players.

Sol Protocol Early Access Impressions: A Sol-id Foundation
Sol Protocol in Early Access on Quest has a good foundation of co-op teamwork and exploration, but the limited scope has a lot of room for growth.

Sectors in the game are procedurally generated and can be chosen for travel via an interactive 3D map that gives information on the sector’s potential hostility and potential rewards. PC VR players who want to see more of the game after playing the demo can sign up for a playtest planned for the end of this month via Discord.

Sol Protocol is available now in Early Access on Quest and comes to PC VR on November 11.
